I remember very clearly my first Mason Pearson hairbrush.

It was many years ago when I was studying in England. My roommate had a small pure bristle Mason brush which she guarded almost jealously and I could not understand why. It was after all, just a hairbrush. But I did notice that she had beautiful hair so maybe there was something in it after all.

One day she left it in our room, which was a bit unusual but it gave me the opportunity to (sneakily) try it out. It was glorious. It felt as if my scalp was being massaged and a shine  brushed into every strand of my hair. This hairbrush was no longer just an instrument to detangle hair, it was a serious secret beauty weapon.

When I had the opportunity to go into London, I headed straight for the department store Harrod’s where I knew they were being sold. I was determined to get one, but what I was not prepared for was the price. For a student, it was way out of my reach, but luckily there were some cheaper options in the pure boar bristle and nylon range.

OK, it was not quite the same, but I was just really happy to get my hands on one even though it meant a serious dent in my student funds. But it was worth it. I kept it for many years and later on, bought myself a large pure bristle Mason Pearson hair brush.

All the expensive hair care products in the world will only be half effective if you do not have the right ‘equipment’ to bring out the best in your hair. So spoil yourself, and consider this a long term investment in a seriously effective beauty weapon.
