hair accessories for a wedding guest?

I’m going to an evening wedding next month and my husband is a grooms man. I have a pretty little red cocktail dress and I love hair accessories, mainly ones with bits of feathers or with a small birdcage veil. How much of an accessory can I wear for the wedding without overdoing it. The bride is someone I don’t know well but went to highschool with the groom and he was in our wedding. They are both funloving people. I just was thinking of a small hairpiece that is black with a bit of netting over the eyes. Is this appropriate?

I would skip any kind of veil if you are a guest at a wedding. Wear something simple and pretty in your hair, but not overwhelming.
